The

Design Process and Use of AI

AI can assist in the creative process by generating ideas, suggesting compositions, or even creating art that challenges our perceptions of what art can be. The key difference lies in how AI is used: as a tool to aid human creativity rather than a replacement for it. As a digital artist dedicated to bringing stories to life, I utilize AI-generated content to enhance and inspire my creative process. This technology aids in crafting elements of the narrative and visual aspects of my work. While AI contributes to the development of these elements, the final creations are deeply rooted in my personal artistic vision and storytelling.

  • Mock-Ups: I begin by creating initial mock-ups using ethically sourced, photo references. This phase helps establish the basic structure of the image. I incorporate AI-generated assets in their first draft to lay the groundwork for the design.

  • Digital Art Enhancement: In this step, I refine the design using digital art tools. I employ filters, brushes, and various tools to enhance consistency and character likeness. This phase also involves creating a "comic" outline feel, addressing known AI glitches, and making adjustments to reduce the artificial appearance of the artwork, aiming for a more authentic look.

  • Upscaling and Refinement: I then upscale the image, increasing its resolution and "baking" in all the elements from the previous design phase. This iterative process involves cycling between upscaling and refining to enhance consistency in both likeness and design style, ensuring that the artwork seamlessly integrates with the setting and theme.

  • Final Touches: Once the artwork is finalized, I add backgrounds and work on the composition of panels and script to ensure they fit the narrative of the story. This step focuses on aligning all elements to create a cohesive and compelling visual storytelling experience.
